Rock vs. house

An interesting article from David Osler. Not sure I agree with his thesis, but not being a fan of house, I’m hardly an expert.

Anyway, go read.

One Response to Rock vs. house

  1. Roger Thornhill says:

As others have mentioned “house” is so broad. Some stuff I cannot abide, some Trance, Ambient, Garage, Jungle? Well, it is all down to the artist.

I like some Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, but “Rrrraaaaaaarrrk” in general bores the pants.

    I mean, verse-chorus-verse-chorus-riff/solo-verse-chorus-chorus.

On the other hand, you often get the breaks in “House” on 8 beat boundaries. I used to be able to shift to this and watch with mild amusement how the entire floor was unaware, became 1 beat out and quickly changed their rhythm. Did none of them get it? Maybe it was my liking of Jazz. Or maths. Or ComSci. Or Classical.

Drum and Bass can also throw up some great music, but why the need to make it a leftie message, as if this is the only valid stance? Typical Leftie totalitarainism.
